CONTRACT FARMERS FOR HYBRID MAIZE SEED PRODUCTION FOR 2024 WINTER SEASON
Global Seeds is currently recruiting interested individuals, farms and organisations to produce hybrid maize seed seed under contract for 2024 winter season. Successful applicants will enter into a seed production contract with Global Seeds.

1. How can I apply for seed production with Global Seeds?

2. Does Global Seeds provide the basic seed on loan?
For this programme Global Seeds does not provide seed loan for the basic seed. The farmer has to buy the seed on cash at Global Seeds or any other recommend basic seed supplier. There is need to seek guidance from Global Seeds when purchasing from other suppliers.
3. Does the company provide fertilizers and chemicals on loan for growers?
No. global Seeds only gives guidance on where and what to apply through the company’s extension worker. An out grower is free to seek a loan from a third party using the grower contract
4. How much seed do I need for Soybean or Groundnuts per Ha?
If proper spacings are followed, you will need 65 Kgs of Seed for Soybean Tikolore and 80 Kgs for Groundnuts seed or beans
5. Can I apply while I have less than 5 Ha of Land?
No, you cannot apply, the minimum size of land is 5 Ha. Global Seeds will only consider farmer’s/Farm groups with at least 5 Ha.
6. How long does the company take to pay for seed bought from contract growers?
Global Seeds grower contracts have a payment period of “within 90 days “from date of delivery of seed to company warehouses. Payments are quicker if a grower delivers seed on time allowing for seed analysis tests to be conducted timely.
7. What are the buyback prices for the crops Produced?
The buyback prices will be known before the farmers sign the contracts. There are always negotiations on the buyback prices. And determining factors include crop, quantity and government pricing of grain to mention a few
8. Is previous experience in seed production necessary to apply?
No, Global Seeds has Field technicians that will help in providing technical advises on good
agricultural practices, seed production, quality control and certification protocols.
9. Does company provide extension services?
Yes, it does provide free extension services for all its crop varieties
10. Can the application be waived for prescribed districts?
No. Only districts mentioned in the CALL FOR CONTRACT GROWERS will be considered
for evaluation and selection.
11. What is your most preferred irrigation system?
The most preferred should be the one with perennial water sources and all its installed
structures functional to support the seed production process.
12. Do I need to submit proof of my financial status?
Not compulsory but submission of the same like bank statements will give an added
advantage.
